Mikail Biyrishmicoff. Sorry not sure of spelling of his name but a great that came to America from Russia. Made movies ‘White nights’ and others and also was on Sex in the City, boy toy for Sarah Jessica Parker. Anyway, great ballet dancer in our time.
Are you talking historical or modern dancers? Balanchine is a very famous choreographer who works for The New York City Ballet (one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world) and he changed the way dancers danced, completely. The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Serenade are all famous ballets.
Famous ballet dancers include:
Rudolf Nureyev,
Vaslav Nijinski,
Mikhail Baryshnikov,
Anna Pavlova,
Dame Margot Fonteyn,
Sir Frederick Ashton,
Agrippina Vaganova,
Maya Plisetskaya,
Robert Joffroy,
etc.
Personally I’d go with Nureyev (pretty obvious) because he was a wonderful dancer, but all of those said above are just as good : )
Famous ballets are:
Swan Lake,
Sleeping Beauty,
La Sylphide,
Giselle,
Don Quixote,
Cinderella,
Coppelia,
La Bayadère,
Le Corsaire,
Romeo and Juliet,
Paquita,
Midsummer’s Night Dream,
and obviously the Nutcracker,
Les Sylphides,
Stars and Stripes (danced in the movie Center Stage by Julie Kent and Ethan Stiefel)
Les Bourgeois,
The Dying Swan,
Petrushka,
Le Spectre de la Rose
some Ballets:
The Nutcracker
Giselle
La Bayadere
Le Corsaire
Swan Lake
Les Sylphides
Sleeping Beauty
Firebird
Romeo and Juliet
Coppellia
The Dying Swan (it’s a solo and is actually very short, and unconnected to any other ballets)
these two are a little more modern but are excelent
Balanchine’s Jewels
Stars and Stripes
Dancers:
Anna Pavlova (the dying swan was choreographer for her)
Rudolph Nureyev
Margot Fonteyne
Mikhail Baryshnikov
Gelsey Kirkland
Carla Fracci
Natalia Makarova
Sarah Lamb
Alessandra Ferri
that’s about all i can name right off the top of my head.
